The African Grantmakers Network held the first Panafrican Grantmakers’ Assembly in Nairobi in November 2010. The highly successful event was attended by more than 230 professionals from philanthropic organisations working all over the African continent.
The Assembly was organised to bring African philanthropy organisations to set the agenda for African philanthropy as w
ell as to learn from each other.
Comprising of a wide array of experienced speakers, the first-of-its-kind Assembly was organised and funded primarily by African organisations, including Trust Africa, Kenya Community Development Foundation, Akiba Uhaki, African Women Development Fund, Urgent Action Fund as well as additional support from the Rockefeller Foundation.
